OUR DUES POLICY:
Pacific Coast Chorale's schedule has unique nuances. Traditional choirs charge dues at the beginning of the term and then end each term with a series of concerts of the material they learned that term. PCC could adopt that traditional model, but if we did, then we would not be the same choir we know and love. One of the things we all love so much about PCC is that it affords us ample opportunities to collaborate with other Performing Arts organizations – all year round. We have collaborated with City Ballet of San Diego and City Ballet Orchestra, Young Actors Theatre, East County Youth Symphony, Escondido Center Chorale and Symphony, Vista High School’s Show-Choir, and who can forget Richard Lederer! That list of organizations is growing all the time. In fact, we are currently discussing more collaborations for the next few terms. Part of the excitement we are fortunate to experience through partnering with such organizations is the privilege to perform in some of the finest venues across San Diego County, like Spreckels Theatre, Kroc Theatre, and California Center for the Arts, Escondido, to name a few.

Because of these special opportunities to challenge ourselves and perform outside of our own group by collaborating with other groups, and because those opportunities often span across multiple term’s programs, we decided that PCC needs a dual-track calendar: we need both a Financial Calendar and a Performance Calendar.

PCC institutes specific dates for collecting dues, three times a year, at four-month intervals. These dates for dues collections, however, will not define the start or end of a term. This leaves us open to collaborating with others, above and beyond the regular term, as a bonus, even when that means working across multiple terms to collaborate.

PCC needs both a Performance Calendar and a Financial Calendar because PCC’s terms don’t always fit neatly into uniform blocks of time. Following is the specific timeline for dues collections:

Dues will be collected every year during the:
  1. first two weeks of June
  2. first two weeks of October
  3. first two weeks of February

Having this regular timeline can help us all in planning. The amount for dues remains $75 per term, per person. Unfortunately, we cannot pro-rate a term to charge only for a part of the term, if someone only wants to participate in part of the opportunities. We encourage everyone who pays dues to take full advantage of all the opportunities that dues payment provides. Please keep in mind that this not only pays for regular term music, but often for those bonus opportunities we all enjoy so much, such as the Choral Festival, or the Schubert, or the Brahms Requiem with full orchestra, or the Mozart Requiem performed to the ballet. And don’t forget that payments can be made in one lump sum each term, or can be spread out into smaller payments, if that helps.

If you have a financial hardship, please just speak to Tess Nelson or Mari Cox, our Treasurer and our Membership Chair, about the potential of getting a scholarship to cover your term. You can send your inquiry to them about this possibility using our Contact Us form, by clicking here.

Thank you for your time and attention in reading this. And thanks most of all for your commitment and dedication to our very special choir!
